Lots of things have happed over the last three years, but my motivation and discipline to work on/update our website has not been one of those things, lol. I’m including some pictures and brief updates in this post, but Jeremiah is heading up our Instagram with a more detailed documentation of the last 3 years, as well as future updates! Check it out here: @restoring_roots_homestead (for those who don’t use Instagram, posts will also be shared on FaceBook here). We will also update the website blog a few times a year 🙂
Establishing a homestead is a lot of work, and most of our spare time and resources have gone into transforming the landscape bit by bit. A couple of our top priorities thus far have been establishing a biodiverse habitat of mostly native plants and trees to help pollinators and other wildlife, and creating more orderly spaces where we can grow the things that are intended for our use.

Above are some of the areas we’ve planted specifically for wildlife 🙂
And below are some of our raised beds for growing all the yummies that people get to enjoy 🙂
Bees are a-buzzin here on the homestead…
We started beekeeping in April of 2022 after countless hours of research, seminars, and hands-on learning from great local beekeepers willing to help get us started. We’ve decided to cap our apiary at three hives, both to keep responsibilities manageable on our end, and to make sure the native bees and insects on our property aren’t overwhelmed by an excessive amount of honey bees here. We love these little creatures and are constantly amazed by their hard work and important roles in our ecosystem.

And here’s a small selection of the lovely pollinators that call our homestead home 🙂

That’s it for now…
We’re busy getting things set up for our first market a week from now, and our site now has a Shop page that lists a few of the provisions currently available. Reach out with any questions using our email (restoringrootshomestead@gmail.com) or on social media!
