Foundation and Chill Time

Do you know what’s almost as exciting as finally breaking ground on our forever home and future homestead? Seeing the foundation completed (and for us, it’s the actual floor of the main level since we’re doing polished concrete). It took a few steps to get to this point, but here are a few pictures to illustrate how this beautiful spot is being transformed…

house foundation finished! — Here’s the finished foundation of the house! It’s about 32×40 feet, and you can see the breezeway leading to the garage in the background.

screened-in porch foundation — And here is the foundation/floor of the space that will likely be my favorite spot of the entire house… the screened-in porch. I’m already pining over the anticipated coffees, discussions, and reading that will happen here.

It was pretty amazing to walk on this completed foundation. Walking on the floor that will support our future here. Yes, I got a little sappy about some concrete. Because this journey has had so many delays and challenges, and we’re happy to celebrate every good thing.

While this building process has been poking along, Jeremiah and I have had some really wonderful moments of peace and comfort in the midst of some adorable creatures. We get to occasionally hang out with young calves at the dairy farm near our homestead. But mostly, it’s cuddling with our pups. Bella and Pepper have shared so much love with us… I’m so thankful that we’ve been granted the gift of taking care of them. Below are some of those precious moments.

Did you notice Jeremiah’s “mountain man” slippers? Quite possibly the best Christmas gift he’s ever gotten, lol.
